Dear Friends and Trekkies,
as you all might, or might not, know, I'm a Star Trek fan for the longest time. It started in the 70's, when I wasn't even 10 years old. I sat there and watched Captain Kirk, and man, how I loved it when he said "Scotty, beam me up" or when I heard the title music, and a voice said (in German) "Where no man has gone before...". I always was a SciFi nut, and I still am. I want to believe that there's something out there. It is a great thought how far mankind will be able to develop in the future. So I'm the one in the household who's into action movies, and science fiction. My daughter prefers historical costume movies (Pride and... what's it called? Or: Ever after, and things like that) or romances. My boyfriend now wants to explain and study everything, so he watches CSI, Navy CIS and alike... and comedians.
But next week the new Star Trek movie hits German theaters. The pre-premiere will air on Wednesday, May 6th. If I can, I usually watch those kinda premieres, even if it's shown at nighttime :) So I reserved tickets. Peter can't come, but Sabrina gave in to join me that very night.
Actually I haven't ever watched the latest series with Captain Archer. Why? Because I'm a SciFi fan, I don't wanna go back in time, but... FORWARD. Which makes it kinda hard for me wanting to really watch this new movie. They are going back in time even further than Kirk and Spock!!! Kirk and Spock in younger age? Mymy, I don't know if I'll like that.
But I recall my last movie premiere, when the whole movie theater was moving like it was a spaceship and ready for lift off any minute. The laser show was incredible, even my ears fell off almost *lol* It was worth spending midnight at the movies :))
One of our tv channels will even show the fans' favorite Star Trek movies ALL May long!
Oh well, I usually get a newsletter from the movie theater by e-mail. They invite you to special ladies' nights with pre-premieres and a red carpet, champagne and things like that. One time it was for 'Sex and the City' - a series I hate (Peter loves it, so he should have went to ladies' night, hehe) and this time I got a newsletter for mens' night. Guess what they offered? 'Star Trek'! Can you believe it? Now what am I supposed to do? How stupid is it to sit among hundreds of men (if you're not searching...) as a female? Peter came with us one time for ladies' night, he was like one of three men among hundreds of women, he didn't mind. But I do!
So I tried our two big cinemas. Guess what? They BOTH offer just mens' night for Star Trek on Wednesday next week, 8 pm. Both! *crying* Now guess again! I am ALLOWED to watch Star Trek AS A FEMALE, too. But for us stupid women *rolling her eyes* access isn't permitted, for mixed sex, until 8:30 pm... 8-o
Now call me naive, but isn't that prejudice, or racist, or something? I almost blew it off to watch it AT ALL, then I thought about making a big scene... which I won't *venting* Now excuse us that we're such an abstract couple, where HE wants to watch 'Sex and the City' and SHE prefers 'Star Trek'!!! *very angry* :-/
Thx for reading. Thought I would share. :(
Gimme your thoughts on it.
